In short: this is real-money roulette on Solana, the house has the edge, the programs are unaudited and upgradeable, you must be of legal age and allowed to gamble where you live, and you can lose everything you deposit.

What this is

chip roulette is a European roulette game whose bets, payouts and house are run by open-source programs on the Solana blockchain. The website is an interface to those programs. Bets are placed in USDC, a US-dollar stablecoin, and losses are real and permanent.

The game is operated by Chip Roulette. Chip Roulette holds the programs' admin and upgrade keys and runs the website; it does not hold your funds or your keys.

Who may play

You must be at least 18 years old, or the legal age for gambling where you live if that is higher. Online gambling is restricted or prohibited in many countries and in parts of others (including many US states). It is your responsibility to know whether you may play from where you are. Do not use the site, a VPN or any other means to play from a place where it is not allowed. Access may be restricted by location at any time without notice.

Your wallet and your funds

You play from your own Solana wallet. We never see or store your private keys, and we can never move your money: deposits sit in the program's player pool under your wallet address, and only a transaction signed by you can withdraw them. Withdrawals are always available, even when betting is paused.

If you lose access to your wallet, nobody can recover the balance under it. Keep your keys safe. Blockchain transactions cannot be reversed.

The game

A single-zero wheel pays as if zero did not exist, which gives the house an edge of 2.70% on every bet. Over many bets a player loses on average. Nothing about CHIP or staking changes that for the bettor.

Each spin's result comes from a verifiable random function run by a third-party oracle (MagicBlock) and proven on-chain. If the oracle does not answer within the timeout, the spin is refunded. Every result links to its transactions, which are the record of what happened; the website's display is a convenience.

How wins are paid. Each spin's maximum win is set aside before the ball drops, from money the house holds. Depending on the house's current settings (shown on the Docs and House pages), a win the house cannot cover in full is either refused before the spin or placed in a payout queue: a first-in, first-out list that is paid from the house's future income, ahead of the operator and stakers, with no guaranteed date. A queued win is a claim on money the house does not yet have; if nobody plays, it is not paid. The house may hold little or nothing at launch. Your place in the queue is shown on your Account page.

CHIP and staking

CHIP is a token minted to players in proportion to what they lose, under a schedule that can only fall. Holders may stake it to receive a share of house profit above the house's all-time high, paid in USDC. That is all it does.

CHIP is not an investment, a security, a deposit or a promise of anything. It has no guaranteed value, may never be transferable, and its only yield is a casino's profit, which may be zero. The operator can change the staker share, the operator's cut (capped at 25%), the table limit and other parameters, each after a public timelock; it cannot raise the mint rate, and it cannot move your stake or your earned rewards. Nothing here is financial, tax or legal advice.

What the operator can do

  • pause new bets at once, as an emergency measure (settlement, refunds, withdrawals and unstaking keep working);
  • change the game's economic parameters after a timelock that is published on-chain with each proposal;
  • withdraw its own earned cut and, after the timelock, its own principal, never from player balances and never while winners are owed;
  • upgrade the programs. The programs are upgradeable. The upgrade authority could deploy different code; this is the one power the programs themselves do not limit, and you are trusting whoever holds that key.

No audit, no warranty

The programs have not been audited by an independent security firm. They were reviewed and tested by their author, and that review is published with the source code, but a bug could lose funds, including yours. The software and the website are provided as is, without warranties of any kind, and may be interrupted, changed or shut down at any time. To the fullest extent the law allows, the operator and the authors of the software are not liable for any loss arising from your use of them, including losses from bugs, oracle or network failures, your own mistakes, or changes in the law.

Not allowed

Playing where it is illegal or under age; using another person's wallet or funds; attempting to exploit, disrupt or reverse-engineer the programs or the website for an unfair advantage; and anything that breaks the law. The operator may restrict the website at its discretion; it cannot restrict your access to funds already on-chain.

Privacy

There are no accounts and we collect no personal data. Everything you do in the game is public on the Solana blockchain forever, tied to your wallet address. Settings such as theme and sound are stored only in your browser. The website may be served through hosting and RPC providers that log requests, including your IP address, under their own policies.

Taxes

Gambling winnings and token rewards may be taxable where you live. Reporting and paying any tax is your responsibility.

Responsible play

Gambling can become a problem. Decide what you can afford to lose before you sit down, set yourself a time limit, take breaks, never chase losses, and stop when it stops being fun. The cinematic all-in and the sounds can be turned off in Settings.

If gambling is causing you or someone you know problems, help is free and confidential: in the US call or text 1-800-GAMBLER; in the UK, GamCare (0808 8020 133); anywhere, Gambling Therapy (gamblingtherapy.org).

Changes and contact

These terms can change as the project does; the date above is the version you are reading. Continuing to play after a change means you accept it. See How it works for how the game and its economics work, and contact @chiproulette on X with questions.
